The 1992 PORSCHE 964 was designed by Benjamin Dimson and built between 1989 & 1994. Its main aesthetic feature was a pair of integrated bumpers and was the first time Porsche would offer a tiptronic transmission and all-wheel drive. The car initially came out with a ‘Design 90’ rim but in 1992, after the Cup Car had been produced in 1990 for the Porsche Carrera Cup, a ‘Cup Wheel’ became available. Both Carrera 2 & 4 models came in a coupe, targa and cabriolet. A 3.6litre flat 6 M64 engine was used which gave it a top speed of 261 km/h, reaching 100km/h in around 6 seconds. It was considered to be 85% mechanically redesigned compared to its predecessor with new coil springs instead of torsion bars, power steering and ABS brakes added for the first time. For me this car, still today stands as one of the best driver cars ever!
